Every time my phone alerted me to a text message or a phone call, I tensed. She'd been off and on again with contractions for nearly two weeks...and today they hadnt stopped. I went about my day but all the while preoccupied wondering when I'd get that call or text telling me to come to the hospital and witness the birth of my precious baby "niece". Megan is practically my sister. We met in high school and to borrow the phrase from Anne of Green Gables, "We have sixteen years to our credit, and we both have wonderful imaginations. We should be as happy as queens." And we were. So to others, Megan may just be my best friend and her adorable baby girl, the daughter of a friend. But to me, Megan is my bosom friend...and my sister. And her newborn child, my niece. Jason and Megan, congratulations on the most adorable newborn baby I have ever laid my eyes on. Thank you for allowing me to share in that memorable day with you.
