Engagement: Mandy and James

I'm officially the worst person in the world to give directions. And I used to say that Andrew was great at it. Okay, so he's still great at it in comparison to me but based on this last engagement session, we both get an epic fail when it comes to giving directions to our clients!

Mandy contacted me via my old roommate in college. We chatted via email for awhile and set up a time to meet in person and shoot the engagement session, and get to know each other over great sushi and hibachi. The date was set, the place fixed, and the sushi calling our names! Andrew and I arrived in Pensacola eager to meet Mandy and James. A little while later, we get a phone call and THUS BEGINS THE GAME. I tried to give directions from where James was driving to where we were standing downtown. Another call. My directions were not matching up to the streets James was seeing. Fail. Andrew's turn. Another call. Andrew's directions were not matching up to the streets James was seeing. Fail. I found myself begging that Mandy and James didnt think we were horrific photographers that couldnt give directions worth a hill of beans! Another call. Andrew tried again. Fail. Finally, and I think James was tired of driving around downtown Pensacola, we decided to walk towards where James was parked. We knew the streets, we would find them instead of having them find us. Fail, Fail, Fail. 30 minutes later, yes my readers, it took 30 minutes for us to find each other! Thanks to the wonder of cell phones and an incredibly distinct red white and blue flag painted car, we found each other. I felt like I needed to get down on my hands and knees and gravel for forgiveness! But Mandy and James are awesome and totally dismissed it as a bump in the road of life. How amazing are they!

The shoot was hot; apparently the early October Floridian weather didnt get the message that it was supposed to show some resemblance of Fall. But despite the heat, Mandy and James were such a great couple to work with. Mandy was shy in front of the camera which made her all the more adorable to shoot. This has been one of my favorite shoots to edit! The colors and the life just give me a smile from ear to ear!

So, after a crazy directional challenged day, an incredibly hot shoot, and a great two hour meal over sushi and hibachi ,{in which time James and Andrew pretty much became best friends} we're in love. We love our clients. And we're so excited for Mandy and James' December wedding! It's going to be sheer joy and excitement and we just cant wait to share in the day and capture the journey.

And because Mandy rocked some die hard shoes, they deserved a shot all to themselves.

2nd Shooting: Amanda Suanne

So a few weeks back while Andrew was out of town, I had the chance to second shoot with an amazing photographer in the area: Amanda Suanne. When I first started the journey into this business she was one of the photographers I was kinda in awe of. Her talent with lighting and color just blew me away. When Amanda asked if I would want to tag along with her at one of her weddings I nearly fell out of my chair. Sure, I'd asked her, but I figured she was too busy. LOVE HER! I had such a great time just watching her and learning, seeing how she interacted with her bride and groom and bridal party, setting up formals. It was an amazing chance just to learn without the pressure of shooting my own wedding.

When I arrived with Amanda and her assistant Sarah, I was nervous, I'll admit it. I wanted to be good, but more than that I wanted to learn and build a relationship. I tagged along behind Amanda throughout the day and it was an awesome experience that I'll hope I get to experience again. {hint hint, Amanda!}

I waited for Amanda to post her photos first: A. because I wanted to know if mine looked like Ritz crackers next to a Ritz Carlton and B. it was her wedding and I wanted to wait for her to do her thing before I posted anything. So, if you'd like to jump over to Amanda's blog and take a look at her inspiring view of the wedding {it makes me want to re-edit mine again and go back in time and take more pictures} then by all means, click here and off you'll go.

But here's a few photos from my view of the wedding. These are just a few of my favorites, hopefully I'll be posting more later once I get caught up on my own weddings. Enjoy and be sure to leave a comment on Amanda's blog telling her how awesome she is, cause face it, she rocks!

A Little Off Course...

I glared at my list as it sat there looming on my desk like those last taunting 5 pounds of your weight loss goals. I had it all planned out to have everything completed by this weekend and enjoy a weekend off from everything while we visit Andrew's sister in Birmingham. But, seeing as I'm a bit off course and my to do list has more unfinished items than finished, I have a lot of work ahead of me.

I did however, want to take a moment to let you all know about a "promotion" of sorts that I'm wanting to put together. It's going to be totally based on feedback so I'm going to need you all to email me if you're interested. The Northwest Florida Fair Grounds is having their Fall Fair November 3rd - 8th. I LOVE fairs, I give me all sorts of {warm and fuzzies} and if you havent noticed, {warm and fuzzies} are really good inspiring things for me! What I'd like to do is set up a couples session on me! Give me a buzz if you're interested and I'll give you all the details. cassie{at}olimbphotography{dot}com

And while I head back to my mound of taunting to do lists and the stomach ache I now have for some reason, I'll bid you adieu with this lovely little image that's making me grin!

Day After: Nikki & Jeremy

So you may recall awhile back to Nikki and Jeremy's sheer awesomeness at their wedding...and maybe you noticed something: where are the bride and groom's photos?! Answer: Nikki was super great and decided instead of allotting time at the wedding to take their together shots, she scheduled an entire session the following day! I love her!

After getting a good night's rest, Andrew and I woke up the next morning, grabbed many much caffeine, and headed back to the Emerald Grande to shoot Nikki and Jeremy together as husband and wife for the first time. I was nervous and excited because, guess what!? Nikki was going to trash her dress. AWESOME! {by the way, if you're a bride on the edge of selling your dress, let me know!! I'd love to do a trash the dress session with you!}

So here's Nikki and Jeremy rockin out their Day After Session. Rain clouds? What rain clouds!

Icecream Cookies

Placing my two candy filled Mario tins and the package of Wonka sour candies on the Blockbuster counter, I realized that neither of us brought our wallet. "What if we dont have enough? I only brought a twenty." I asked Andrew who had just put the swapped out two movies with our pass and was giving the cashier our liter of diet coke and his ice cream cookie. "Then I'd put my icecream cookie back."

Somethings about my husband make my jaw drop and fill me with {warm and fuzzies}. They're usually very little things that he'll do or say...and I've become quite convinced that it eludes him as to how much of an impact they make on me. As we walked back to our apartment, Andrew talked, I laughed, we shared stupid sayings and meaningless comments...but my mind was still back at the cashier's counter. We'd had enough cash on us to pay for our late night run for junk food and movies but I was still in awe. "I'd put my icecream cookie back". Out of the blue I asked Andrew why he would have given his icecream cookie back when it was the only thing he picked up, aside from the diet coke. I had grabbed three things of candy, why would he feel the need to put back his one if we didnt have enough to pay for it all? Andrew's goofy little smile danced across his face and I saw a tickling threat pass through his mind. But instead tickles, his response was simple: "You were happy about those two Mario tins. I wanted you to be able to get them."

So here's to Mario tins that proved my husband is a much more selfless person than I. And by the way, the candies inside were disgusting. But I filled them with mints and M&Ms and now they're perfect.
