It happens a lot I'm finding...people fall in love with photography after their wedding. Like, seriously, they fall head over heals with it. That's how I got started but I'm still stunned by how often that happens. Kayleen and Jon were no exception. The two got married in May of this year and sadly are moving out of the area next month. Kayleen has fallen in love with photos, with images of love...and she wanted more.
So, before she leaves the home she's known all her life, Kayleen asked that we document the last of this time in their lives in this area. "It's bittersweet" she said "I've been here all my life, this is my home. But I'm so excited to build a new life with him." As the two of them embark on this next chapter in their lives, Andrew and I had the pleasure of giving them just a little more time in front of the camera. Because really, every girl just wants to be a rock-star in front of the camera! Good luck you two!

Our Favorite Things: Fresh Start
Alrighty, so I realize something as I'm writing this. This post has the potential to make people think I dont shower. Seriously internet, I shower! Please dont think this is me not showering because it's not. Dont start floating that around the grapevine, sheesh!
Now girls, it's Monday. I'm sure many of you out there are running around crazy already from your jobs, your life, your schedule, etc. And I bet at least one if not more of you didnt have as much time to devote to your hair as you would have loved. Andrew laughs at me but sometimes I'll have this amazing hair and I'm not going anywhere. Seriously, I have the best hair days on days when all I'm doing is sitting in my office. Hence today's favorite thing!
TRESemme FRESHSTART - have you guys seen this stuff? It's amazing! You spray it in your hair and let it sit for a few minutes, brush it through and viola! Your hair smells clean, looks clean, and your hairdo from the day before instantly transcends to the next day. I love this stuff. So not to be all like a commercial but seriously, go grab some of this and see how many days you can push your hairstyle. But please, dont forget to shower.

Vows
I am probably every teachers worst nightmare. I question everything, I reject things without much cause if they're pushed at me too hard. You have to show me by example, I learn by doing and I'm stubborn to the core. So it always amazes me when the Lord takes a common theme and threads it through the entirety of my life. Silly little girl that I am, I'm always shocked when I look back and see His gentle coaxing into a direction or into learning something. I cannot possibly be that stubborn that He cant just put something in my face to see...can I?
There's a section from the book of Ruth that is often used in wedding vows. This past weekend I had the opportunity to share in the renewal of vows for one of my closest friends parents. As I stood on the white windy beach allowing the sand to squish in between my toes, I breathed in the moment. I was going to be documenting a very small, very personal ceremony. The pale pinks and oranges, even the gloomy storm gray blue skies that were threatening to force us indoors all added to the nostalgia that radiated from the day.
"Where you go, I will go and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die, I will die and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me." Between the clicks of my camera, I fought off tears. Here stood a couple committed to one another. Thirty years of marriage, a tremendous amount of life and love, hardships and growth and here they stood on a beach staring into one another eyes reciting the same vows they pledged to one another so many years ago.

Kagan Family: Anytime
Have you ever gone back to look through your old family photo albums? In today's day and age, Facebook has kinda become our generations version of photo albums. I have a few friends who are big into scrapbooking and I remember thinking "what in the world?!" Totally hated the idea of ever becoming a scrapbooker. That's just way too much minutia and detail and repetitiveness for me. But you know, to each his own. But lately, as I've been shooting a few more family photos than usual, I'm realizing that while we're all up in this digital age, what if it fades? What if lightening stikes all mighty facebook and I lose every photo on there?
So, lately, as I've been going through my shoots, I have the mindset that later, when their daughter is married with two kids and she looks back through her family photo albums...or Facebook...that she has photos. Tangent, but I'm also reconsidering the idea of offering my wedding images on a DVD vs a photo album, but that's another tangent for another post.
So here's to little Leigha having photos when she's older. Here's to her being able to look back at her family in this exact moment in time. And here's to her parents sitting on a porch somewhere in the future with lemonade and chocolate chip cookies looking back.

The Classroom and a Sneak
There's a story that randomly pops into my head. It's a story about the little engine that could. I'm fairly certain I dont need to explain that story to anyone - if you dont know the story, then you need to go re-read some childrens' books or something cause you missed a great story in your childhood. But this week, that story has been on my mind a lot. Yesterday in my blog I mentioned that I was gearing up for a ton of learning this week. Well, today is day two. It's also day one of the Jasmine Star Epic Wedding Workshop LIVE! I've had this list of things that I wanted to do in my business and one of those things was to attend a Jasmine Star Workshop. While this may not actually be attending a workshop, I'm gonna put a half of a check in that box...because while I am technically attending a Jasmine Star Workshop, I still want to physically attend a Jasmine Star Workshop.
So, as I pour yet another cup of coffee {I swear I'm going to have a coffee overload this week at this rate} and plant myself in front of the computer screen for five hours I wanted to post a sneak peak. You see, I love this photo...and I just couldnt wait till I finished the whole set to actually post it. Enjoy and wish me luck!

Bump On The Head
I sat on the carpet trying to regain my sense of direction. I'm holding my phone and my glass of peach and raspberry smoothie...the remote was on the floor...how did the remote get on the floor? How did I get on the floor? Oh yeah, I sat down. My hand was pressed to my forehead, why was my hand pressed to my forehead? Oh yeah, I was afraid I was bleeding. Am I bleeding? No, I'm not bleeding. Holy Crap that hurt! Stupid door, stupid curtains.
I carry on an inner monologue on most days. I dont know if that's normal but it gets me through the day. That was yesterday's monologue around 5pm. You see, I rammed my head into the corner of our sliding glass door. Still in my sweaty gym clothes, with a ice cold glass filled with my newly made smoothie pressed against my head, I laid on the floor finding this all slightly ironic. You see, I had planned this week to be full of learning. I knew my head would be hurting my the end of the week, full of tons of ideas and perspective. I didnt think I'd be starting of the week with an actual bump that was actually swelling that was actually making my head scream in pain.
So, as I smother my forehead in concealer, the week begins. First up is Live with Lara. Funny story, I worked with Lara briefly in college. I was a junior trying to figure out exactly what I planned on doing with my education and an opportunity for an internship in Gulf Breeze with her and her team opened up. Looking back, I wish I had realized just how much that internship should have meant and just how much I could have learned and relationships I could have formed. But I was young and never once imagined that four years later I'd be here now. So, live and learn, and then learn some more.

Our Favorite Things: OPI
I'm realizing that lately, the "favorite things" in our favorite things posts are usually all my favorite things. Such is life when I'm the one writing the blogs! Muahaha! Sorry Andrew.
The other day I went in for a mani/pedi with one of our past brides who has become more than a client, instead, a friend. Together we sat and sipped wine as we enjoyed a relaxing two hours of manicures and pedicures. During that time I decided to go a bit more adventurous! Usually, I swear by OPI Bubble Bath but this time I decided to go polar opposite. BLACK and not just black, Black Onyx to be exact. So as I glance down at my black fingernails typing feverishly over the keys, I'm still debating which is better. You decide!
Here are my OPI favorites: Second Honeymoon {the color I wore on my wedding day oddly enough} Bubble Bath {my go to color for every occasion} and my new favorite, just discovered the other day: Mimosas for Mr & Mrs.
And the color in question, Black Onyx...to be a favorite or not be a favorite...that is the question! But pretty much, OPI just cant go wrong!
