Otter Day

Two blogs in one day? What is this world coming to!!

Yesterday was my birthday...if you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, you'd have known that I randomly updated some things...weird things. You see, my father and I - well, we're a bit odd.

I mean, he's more odd then me, I mean sheesh, I'm totally normal next to him.

For my birthday this year, my dad and Andrew came to an agreement that on the actual day of my birth, my dad was going to kidnap me at 11am. That was all I knew. Oh, and I knew that my mom told me to wear a sundress. Really mother, a sundress, was this all you could have told me? So, at 11am, I was ready in my sundress.

Now, in order for this to make any sort of semblance of sense to anyone, you have to realize, I'm a 5 year old. If it makes a 5 year old happy, it's gonna make me happy. You also have to realize that my dad and I, we're both otters. You know that personality test you can take? Well, my dad and I are otters. We both have other results mixed in there...like my freakish result of a Lion/Beaver tied as my primary and Otter as my secondary. But with my dad, I'm 100% otter. We have ottery things that we do...like we both have two stuffed otters that we carry around. His goes on business trips with him and mine sits in my office reminding me that however crazy my Lion/Beaver self gets, my Otter self can make everything better.

So, back to 11am in my sundress. At 11am, we began otter day. Otter's like to eat...anything really but they like to eat a lot. So we had bagels...yummy amazing bagels while we made fun of people that walked passed. Hey, otter's arent necessarily the nicest bunch! Then back in my dad's shiny new Camero, which, by the way, otters love shiny things, and off we went. Our destination? I had no clue. So, 25 minutes later....

So, with my otter named Doug, and a day full of ottery goodness, I came home full, of life, of otters, of love, and of Mexican food and chocolate cake. I looked at Andrew later that evening and smiled and extremely tired smile. "We didnt do anything together today..." then I yawned as he gave me a hug, "We'll fix that tomorrow...I'm full."

Meghan and Ben: The Engagement

I remember, growing up - how laughter seemed to fix anything. Any situation could be enhanced, changed, lightened...just with a heart warming laugh. My family laughed alot throughout my childhood...I think it's in part to the fact that my parents made sure that where ever we lived, we had experiences. Making an igloo castle in Washington...complete with tunnels for the inevitable war of the snowballs, or iceballs as it turned out. Making a slide off of the roof of our house because the snow was piled so high. Rolling down a grassy castle hill in England only to discover that grass was more or less tons of mud. And those are just a small drop in the ocean of my memories...

Meghan and Ben are one of those quirky couples that develop a world all to their own. How do I know this? Andrew and I tend to do the same thing. We mention a line from a movie, a quip from a comedian, we share a knowing glance when someone says something that reminds us of an inside joke. And laughter...lots of laughter. Meghan and Ben share that same world: inside jokes, lines from movies, knowing glances, they've got it all! And the laughter....I'm pretty sure I got cramps from laughing so hard.

Did I mention Andrew absolutely adores this couple. Which may play in part that all their favorite movies are the exact same...and all those movies I cant stand, yeah they love them...and quoted them. All the time. I felt a little left out, but watching Andrew interact with Meghan and Ben and laughing and sharing movie quotes, totally made up for my silence.

23

Today is my birthday. Garland is asleep on the top of the couch, her usual spot during the majority of the day and I'm jealous of her. I'm jealous of her because she's blissfully unaware of me pacing back and forth throughout the house. Andrew has been at work for about four hours now. I'm jealous of him because he's blissfully unaware of me pacing back and forth throughout the house. You see, today is my birthday. And today, today my dad has planned something and I have no idea what it is. So, I'm pacing. My dad is picking me up in about an hour and I'm pacing. Because, my father decided that this year, being the birthday girl means I dont get to know what's happening today. Totally sucks, but really, I shouldnt be complaining...I'm not complaining...I'm just impatient. Impatient and pacing.

Andrew and I will have a quiet birthday celebration with just to two of later on in the week but for now, for now I'm impatiently waiting to know what my day holds. I'm wearing a sundress for crying out loud. How can a girl wear a sundress and not know where she's going or if she dressed appropriately! Much less if she's wearing too little or too much makeup - dont get me started on the hair. Deep breath...impatiently waiting, that's what I'm doing. And pacing...did I mention that I'm pacing?

Kristen: The Sneak

I love Mondays...I know that sounds a bit paranormal, but I do, I love Mondays. It's the day of list making, scheduling, meal planning, blog prepping...it's just the day of preparation for the week to come. And I like it. I like lists, sticky notes, calendars, chalk, sharpies, highlighters...office supplies. I love office supplies! Like, I have an avid love affair with office supplies.

So, while I sit here humming and loving my brand new pack of highlighters and sticky notes and tying myself to my office chair to prevent going to the store to buy new pens, shiny new pens, and sharpies, and red pencils, and notebooks I dont need...yes, while I try to prevent that, I thought I'd leave you with a sneak peak of little miss Kristin. Her senior shoot will be coming up on the blog soon but until then, enjoy!

Gotta love sprawling out in the grass. Granted it's like, hot as hades outside at the moment, but this picture just makes me want to grab a good book and lay in the lush grass and read till I fall asleep.

Our Favorite Things: Red Vines

I cant seem to decide. You know, everyone says you can only be one or the other. You cannot possibly be on both bandwagons....you just cant. Or at least, that's what I've been told. And if you know me, I have this tiny little problem where if you tell me I cant do something...um...I kinda sorta make it my mission in life to prove you wrong. Yes, I know, lovely little character trait of mine.

All this to tell you one of our favorite things. Well, okay, my favorite things. Andrew finds these absolutely disgusting, no matter which bandwagon you happen to be on. Today's favorite things? RedVines!!! Heavenly yummy goodness. At the moment, I'm on the RedVines bandwagon. But, I really really like Twizzlers too! A friend of mine recently told me that she couldnt believe I like RedVines "they're the poor man's Twizzler!" she explained. But there's just something about the squishy gummy factor that I like! And Twizzlers, well, they're near perfection when drinking a Diet Coke through the tiny hole in the middle. So here's to riding two bandwagons at the same time!

Hope's 1 Year

I posted a few days ago a sneak peak of a recent shoot. You know, the shoot that made me rethink my existence? Okay, will not my existence but at least whether or not I want to shoot babies. Yeah, that one.

Well, prepare for the cuteness! And cupcakes...I'm still having crazy crazy craving for cupcakes. Now, usually I'd have a cute little story about watching Hope squish, stomp, and throw the sugary goodness. Usually I'd describe how much I laughed as she kept trying to get the sticky pink and green off of her hands only to discover that it actually tastes good! But instead, instead of my cute little story, I'm going to just post the highlights. Because if I'm being completely honest, I still dont know what to do about this...
